The small boutiques and unique concept stores make Leiden a true paradise for the shopaholic! Culture enthusiasts can also indulge themselves: Leiden has no fewer than 13 museums with varied exhibitions.
Stroll through the narrow streets around the Pieterskerk, sail through the canals of Leiden, let yourself be pampered in one of the many restaurants and find out why Leiden is nicknamed 'The City of Discoveries'!
Anyone who likes to travel should not skip this museum. It feels like you are on the other side of the world!
The Hortus botanicus in Leiden is the oldest botanical garden in the Netherlands. A green oasis in the middle of the city. You can walk through the garden for hours and enjoy the sun, whilst sitting on one of the benches.
Rent a sloop:
Anyone who thinks that you can only enjoy a canal cruise in Amsterdam is wrong. At Bootjes & Broodjes you can take a tour with one of their boats, or you can rent a sloop yourself. Great fun to do with friends!
Leiden has over 35 courtyards (hofjes). Sometimes between two houses you can find a beautiful courtyard! Each courtyard has its own story. At the tourist office you can buy a floorplan for € 3.50.
Walk along wall poems
As you stroll through the narrow streets and alleys, don't forget to look up every now and then. Leiden has many beautiful wall poems.
